When it comes to recycling, Muncie has bragging rights among most Indiana cities. "Muncie is better than most communities in the state," according to Nikki Grigsby, recycling coordinator for Muncie Sanitary District. The city collects 135 tons of trash each day and 32 percent of that is recycled, falling in line with the national average of 32.5 percent.
